Por si alguien viene perdido, este post no va exactamente de repostería.
Últimamente no ha habido mucho tiempo para escribir, porque el poco que había disponible, lo hemos dedicado algo mucho más importante: Aprender a “jugar a las palmitas” (clapping hand games)… in English, off course. Ha habido que dedicarle tiempo porque, he de reconocer, que no tenía experiencia ni en español. Supongo que durante mi infancia, y no sé si ahora también, esto era considerado mayoritariamente un “juego de niñas”. What
a pity!
A jugar a las palmitas, también se le conoce como Pat-a-cake o Patty-cake, ya que estas son las primeras palabras de una canción infantil que normalmente acompañaba el juego. Pat significa algo así como dar una palmada suave. Ej.: A pat on the pack (una palmadita en la espalda). Y por otro lado, Cake, además de un grupo musical realmente bueno, significa tarta o pastel.
Podría grabar un video enseñándoos las letra de las canciones y explicando como se juega, pero como ya sabéis, nosotros no salimos en nuestros vídeos. Fortunately, he encontrado a este chico, muy valiente por cierto, que se ha grabado explicando una de nuestras favoritas (Down, Down Baby). No has podido evitar alguna risilla…. no pasa nada, a él también le hacía gracia…
Otra cosa que podría hacer es escribir muchísimo sobre las bondades del juego para el desarrollo infantil, diciendo que favorece el desarrollo de: la memoria, el lenguaje, la atención, la coordinación óculo-manual, el razonamiento, la reflexión, la empatía,… y que fomenta el desarrollo emocional, y el establecimiento de lazos afectivos,…Pero creo que podría escribir aún más sobre las bondades de estos juegos para la salud mental de los adultos.
Os dejo sólo tres videos: Miss Mary Mack, Down, Down Baby y Pat-a-cake. Las letras están al final y no están traducidas, ya que normalmente, son nonsense songs, y además en casi todos los casos hay versiones diferentes. Bueno, la verdad es que no están traducidas por falta de tiempo.

We had a blast (nos lo pasamos bomba) aprendiendo esto, y me he acordado de que debería escribir un post con medidas anti-crisis, como dejar de ver the telly, cantar Three Little birds (o cualquier tema de Bob Marley) o volver a ver la película BIG, en la que por cierto, Tom Hanks canta algo de Down, Down Baby)… Uff, que manera de enlazar…
